ASUS has announced two new affordable tablets .It comes with 7 and 10 inch displays. The 7-inch ASUS Pad MeMO ME172V and the 10-inch ASUS Smart Pad MeMO ME301T were instead seen only for business visitors to the electronics show.
The ASUS Pad MeMO ME172V apparently strongly resembles externally the Google Nexus 7 , which actually stems also from ASUS. Under the hood, however, it is considerably more economical, since the device has only a TN panel (with compared to IPS panels clearer viewing angle) and 1024 × 600 pixels resolution. Under the hood lies indeed as expected a VIA WM8950 ARM Cortex-A9 processor with a single core operating at 1 GHz. Added 1 GB of RAM and an 8 or 16 GB of flash memory. The back cover is made of the same plastic as the Nexus 7, but it is a little thinner.
The ASUS Smart Pad MeMO ME301T has to offer significantly better data. Here is a 10.1-inch display with IPS technology and a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels is built. Also, there's the Nvidia Tegra 3 T30L with 1.2 GHz, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of memory. With both devices running Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" as the operating system. Priced the ME301T will probably move from 199 to 249 euros, while the small ME172V will cost 129 to 149 euros, depending on storage capacity. Long it will probably not be long until the two Tablets officially come on the market - it is likely to Mobile World Congress 2013, so far.
